REWIRING LEADERSHIP: Connecting the Dots for Sustainability and Equity
/REWIRE the leader in you
REHUMANIZE the workplace
REDEFINE the organization
REINVENT the future
For the last two years, the global community has been grappling with the unprecedented challenges sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, social injustices like George Floyd’s murder in the USA, and environmental issues due to climate change.
Some have tried to ignore these challenges. Some have only pretended to treat them seriously. But a growing number of governments, organizations, and leaders have taken this unique opportunity to fundamentally transform the way we see ourselves and treat others and the environment as a whole. THIS is how we create the organizations and leaders of the future.
Professionally, they are now rewiring leadership, re-humanizing the workplace and re-purposing the organization.
On December 20 we considered these questions:
How can I be and do good in a polarized world?
How do I develop the leadership mindset for a sustainable and equitable future?
How do I connect the dots between what society/community needs and what our workforce wants?
What has changed in these past 21 months since the beginning of the pandemic, exposing global and local inequities, and then, the murder of George Floyd and many others?
“…for the first time you see in the trust barometer that individuals are letting us know is that they have an expectation for CEOs to speak out on the societal challenges. It's no longer okay for the organization to have the communication experts that give the “correct” bullet points to share in front of the organization. For the first time you really see the need for that full presence of the organization’s leaders, this expectation that society and government is increasingly depending on business to take on the responsibility of the social things, that businesses and organizations really need to take up the challenge and deliver the future that we want. And the future that we want is looking at everything from the UN Development Goals everything that we're measuring and the ESGs: spanning the quality of the environment to the organizations to each government.
So the question that we went out and started asking was: how are the leadership rising to this challenge? What is moving is there are organizations that saying, ‘Okay this is the opportunity: to link what is happening, connect those dots with sustainability, ESGs, etch. and talk about being good for all.’”
